With Pete Gillen,
University of Virginia
Strong, explosive guards are at the heart of winning basketball. They set the offense, feed the post, and dictate the tempo of
a game. While at Xavier and Providence, Gillen's back court led the way to eight NCAA Tournament appearances in the last 11
years. Guard play was a key factor in their advancing to the Elite Eight in the 1997 NCAA Tournament. In this video, Coach
Gillen offers numerous drills to improve ball handling, shooting off the dribble, dribble penetration and pitch-out, and
feeding the post. Also included are drills for setting up pick and roll opportunities as well as fast break shooting drills.
This instructional video promises to help you develop explosive guards! 1997. 48 minutes.
