I’ve been hearing about this comparision all day and while I get it, I also dont’ quite see it the same way.  Fredette is a bigger, stronger player with a true jump shot.  Curry was/is rail thin with great range and a smooth stroke that is near a set shot.  If you compare the other skills you are going to see the separation.

• Curry can handle the basketball on a high high level.  I’ll argue he still isnt’ a true point for Golden St but he’s getting better and better.  His handles though are night and day ahead of Fredette.  Like Curry, Fredette plays mostly off the ball and is great at getting shots off.
• Fredette is a better finisher around the basket.  He’s stronger and  can use either hand.  He is fearless inside the key.
• Fredette is better at creating his own shot.  I saw them both play in college plenty of times and they are both amazing.  Fredette though gets excellent lift on his jumper with easy range to 25 feet.  He also has a stepback and crossover that are NBA right now.

Overall Steph Curry is an unbelievable talent and future all star.  He’ll develop into a top flight point guard who can score 25 an night and still hit 8 assists.  He’s a great ball handler and is really transitioning into a solid point guared.

Fredette is still trying to prove that he can play in the NBA and he deserves a shot.  I think he will struggle early being a point guard but he’ll have to play there.  Both Curry and Fredette are not known for the their defense but that will have to change.  Curry has more of the aptitude to be the NBA point guard while Fredette just looks like a player.  IF fredette were 6*4 he would be a lotto pick but since he isn’t he’ll make some team happy late in the first round.
