Don’t sleep on the Spurs…Top NBA Western Conference Teams
You have to give the Celtics credit and put them atop any list that discusses the best NBA teams. They smoked the LAKERS last year and really truly earned their rings. They had the best record in basketball and slightly stumbled in the playoffs before crushing LA.
Out West everyone seems to think LA is a lock to get back to the finals and I just don’t see it that way. Nobody can sleep on the Hornets at all after improving by getting James Posey in the offseason and Chris Paul being a year older and wiser. I watched the Hornets early last year and they looked so good with David West, Tyson Chandler, Peja and Chris Paul all gellin well together and I predicted they’d be the sleeper out west and they were. This year people will be gunning for the Hornets and I think it will catch up to them a little bit. I expect them to be one of the top 4 teams in the WEst but nothing more.
The team I would look out for is the Spurs. Manu is out for a while and getting healthy. Duncan is getting older but still hasn’t dropped off. Last year he was great. Tony Parker is still very young and this team just knows how to win and Poppovich really knows how to coach. When Manu comes back this team will have Parker, Duncan and Manu all ready to prove something to the league and they will be there until the end. I just think they are being overlooked right now.
Others to watch out for: Jazz and Rockets. Houston acquired Artest and that should help but Artest hasn’t been on a lot of winning teams. McGrady is a proven top 10 talent but that’s where it ends. If they don’t get past the 1st round this year then TMAC needs to go.
